Kerala shows a high prevalence of drug, alcohol, and digital addiction among school
children. Parents, teachers, and law enforcement officers are confused about how to
tackle this issue. Our experience with addicted adolescents over the last 15+ years has
helped us understand the need for systematic, continuous, and child-friendly
intervention strategies. These adolescents need help to overcome their habits, improve
academic performance, and develop their skills for a better future.
Currently, AURA
is unable to meet the growing needs of society due to insufficient infrastructure and
operational capacity. We aim to reach wider geographic areas and be a beacon of hope for
more families of struggling adolescents. Our goal is to build a sustainable and
eco-friendly de-addiction centre for teenagers and provide training to nourish their
strengths and personality traits, enabling them to gradually handle their own issues.
This centre is envisioned as a perfect platform for shaping the future of our
youngsters.
We plan to construct a 15,000+ sq. ft. state-of-the-art de-addiction
centre with better facilities, infrastructure, and hostel accommodations. The project is
expected to cost approximately 3.5 crores as of the current date. We believe that, with
the support of like-minded people, this dream project can be realised, offering solace
to thousands of needy children and families. Local committees have been formed, and
resource mobilization based on parish levels is underway with the support of people in
Chittissery. We are also trying for other sources of funds from certain organisations.
